Juicero Machine

Juicero was a Wi‑Fi‑connected countertop cold‑press juicer that squeezed proprietary, single‑serve produce packs to make fresh juice at the push of a button.

Importance in Internet Culture

Juicero became shorthand online for IoT overreach and VC hype: a connected appliance locked to proprietary consumables that required servers to function. The meme sharpened debates about DRM in the physical world and whether “software eating the world” was solving real problems or just inventing them.

Interesting Fact

Despite the mockery, Juicero’s hardware was built like a commercial kit: a teardown found eight machined aluminum parts and even a custom high‑voltage power supply inside. Founder Doug Evans also boasted the press delivered “four tons of force, enough to lift two Teslas.”
